Office 2010

Overall, the suite's look is more consistent from one app to another--and more subdued than its predecessor, primarily because Microsoft opted for a palette of mostly grey and white, versus the sky blue of Office 2007.

Gone is the big and somewhat ungainly Office button that appeared in the upper-left of each window. Instead, clicking on the File tab now brings up a new window (called Backstage view) with a slew of options for creating, saving, sharing, and printing, as well as for accessing recent versions of the current document--or easily opening others via a handy list of recent documents. This window also leads you to menus for application-specific options.

In addition, Office 2010 introduces a nice little refinement to the most basic of all content-creation tasks, pasting material you've cut or copied. The new Live Preview for paste not only lets you opt to retain the source formatting, merge with destination formatting, or transfer text, but also allows you to see what your choice will look like before you commit to it--much the way the ribbon lets you try out formats by hovering your pointer over them.

My Take on it, I tried albeit briefly this suite and while several of the programs within like Publisher, Access, and Excel worked great I had nothing but trouble with Word and exspecially Outlook. So much so that I have uninstalled it and gone back to 2007 for the time being. This is not to say you will experience the same thing and I will definitely try it again because of the enhancements mentioned in the excerpt above. So right now all I can tell you is you may want to wait a bit before you fork out the cash for the newest thing!

                   Windows 7 ?
If you looked at this site previously we reviewed Windows Vista Operating System (OS) and at first had kinda of a bad taste in our mouth about. Then after some updates and a little time to figure out what we could turn off in Vista to make it run ...well better. Now there is Windows 7, I have to tell ya that this OS is a GEM!! not only is it smoother running it just feels better. Some of the added features to the taskbar are well worth testing out. As always those of you moving from XP to Win 7 are going to have some growing pains but none of the frustrations that normally accompany Vista are there in 7. Not only that but once you get use to it Win 7 networks like none of the previous versions of windows although its Homegroup password is something you have to write down to remember if you plan on adding another PC to that group. All in all Win 7 is a winner in my opinion!

Internet Explorer 9 is the newest version of Microsofts web browser and it has been streamlined. In my opinion so much so that many users will find it hard to use when it comes to changing settings and working with the other features commonly tinkered with. For those that like "Google Chrome" or "Firefox" this is very close to the slimline design of those browsers. I think you'll like the speed of this new browser and the added security features, all in all I would say a good upgrade.
