More and
more we
are seeing
software
that looks
"Real" yet
it is
actually
Malicious
Software
that Goads
us into
spending
money on
bogus
products.
I put
this page
together
to help
you find
out if
"your
suppose to
do an
update on
it or
not!"
While there are literally thousands of software titles out there, there are some common ones you will see from time to time.
We hope
this info
will help
you to
maintain
your system
a little
while
longer and
without the
costly
mistakes of
clicking on
something
you
shouldn't
have.
Some of the
Big Ones!
Microsoft/Windows
Updates Microsoft
has 2 types
of updates,
the first is
the
most common
and that is
windows
updates. All
versions of
windows have
updates
and
those
updates are
needed, the
icons that
represent
the update
vary too
depending on
your version
of windows.
Granted sometimes
an
update
breaks more
than it
fixes but
overall it
is needed.
Second is a
Microsoft
update this
is simply an
update that
focuses on
all
Microsoft
products
including
Office and
it too is
legitimate
and
necessary
Java
Updates
Java, like
"Flash" is a
language
used on many
websites.
In a
nutshell
it's
programming
code, a
specific
type and it
is
legitimate.
While some
PC people do
not like
Java for
most normal
PC users
it's fine
and won't
cause you
any issues.
There are Tons of software that are legitimate and that have updates that will need to be done
While there is no way we could mention them all and also no way for us to know what you have on your system the basic rule of thumb is that if you have purchased legitimate software from a known vendor then chances are it will eventually need an update. The thing we all need to be cautious about is arbitrarily downloading and updating software we are not sure about. PC WorX is only a phone call away and we would be happy to assist you in deciphering legitimate software from the not so legitimate!
Adobe/Flash
Updates
Adobe has
some
proprietary
software
that
does
need
updating.
Whether or
not you own
the high
dollar adobe
software or
not Adobe
now owns
Flash. Flash
is a
computer
language
most
commonly
referring to
animation
type content
on websites.
It also
updates the
"Free" Adobe
Reader from
time to time
