It's Really pretty simple!
I started this company in 2004 because like many of you I
was frustrated with my computer. Over the course of about 12yrs I learned
from some great IT people working for Fortune 50 & Fortune 500 companies.
Although most of my knowledge came in an unofficial capacity, that is to say
my jobs at the time were not in the IT field, I still was able to get
exactly the answer I was looking for. I found that taking courses were, at
least for me, rather boring. The instructors either did it all themselves
(hands on is my game) or the material being covered only touched ever so
briefly on what it was I truly wanted to know.
Fast forward to 2004 and I am back in Aledo, IL. having
traveled and worked primarily on the east coast I found there was a need for
this sort of thing. Being the type of person who is willing to take a chance
I ventured out to start PC Works. I must tell you it was neither easy nor
was it always pleasant but ALWAYS interesting. For those of you who have
utilized our services before space was becoming an issue. After our 1st year
in business (which was actually only Aug thru Dec) we had almost 100
clients. Now in 2007 we will be starting, in the new location with over 500
clients and YES! Windows (the old place didn't even have a window one!)
My main goal and dare I say our Mission Statement
is to provide to Mercer County and the surrounding areas, Service that has
been forgotten, Prices that are reasonable and a Local Storefront where you
feel at ease. We are respectful to your property when we are invited into
your house and even ask if you would like us to remove our shoes (try
finding that from a big box store). Probably the one SOP (standard operating
procedure) I get the most
comments on is the fact that I will talk to you in terms all of us can understand.
We can talk Tech if you like but I find that most of the conversations go
better if you can relate (you can almost see the glaze envelope a persons
eyes when that Techy Mumbo Jumbo comes flying at them....and this is not a
slam I get bored with it too). Now near the end of 2007 we added a new
feature called PC Works Remote Help. We have teamed up with a company that
allows us to "Brand" their software (i.e. put our logo and customizations on
it) and gives us the ability to securely work on your system from here. Now
I don't know about you but that is some sci-fi stuff, your mouse starts
moving and boxes are closing and opening up it is great. This type of
feature is sometimes referred to as "Out-Sourced" technical support, many
companies are going to it rather than trying to staff an IT dept. You as a
customer now have this opportunity at staggeringly low prices. I am very
proud of the progression my business has made, who knows I might even be
able to collect a paycheck someday (small business owners will get that
one!).
Bottom line is we want all of our clients regardless of
skill-level, to be able to feel comfortable and well taken care of.
And Remember our Guarantee - "If we can't fix it, You
don't Pay"
